State Nuclear Power Technology Corporation (SNPTC) is a key state-owned enterprise under the direct administration of the Central Government. Authorized by the State Council, it acts on behalf of the state to sign international agreements, acquire advanced third-generation nuclear power technologies, execute relevant engineering design and project management tasks, and—through a process of digestion, absorption, and re-innovation—forge a distinct Chinese brand of nuclear power technology. It serves as the primary vehicle and R&D platform for the introduction, engineering construction, and localization of the third-generation AP1000 nuclear power technology. Furthermore, it acts as the lead implementing entity for the CAP1400/1700 Major Project on Large-scale Advanced Pressurized Water Reactor Nuclear Power Plants, as well as the principal body responsible for executing the demonstration projects associated with this major initiative.

To support the localization of AP1000 nuclear power technology, SNPTC partnered with Zhuzhou Shuangling Technology in 2012 to jointly develop China's first intermediate-frequency pipe bending machine specifically designed for producing nuclear-grade hot-bent pipes. The development of this equipment laid a solid foundation for breakthroughs in high-end, nuclear-grade intermediate-frequency pipe bending technology.

On May 29, 2015, with the approval of the State Council, the China Power Investment Corporation (CPI) and SNPTC underwent a restructuring to form the State Power Investment Corporation (SPIC).
